Worldview

A worldview is like a filter over your mind.  Everyone has one.  It allows you to make sense of things.  It fills in blanks about the way the world works.  If you have good filters, you see things clearly.  If you don’t, you may find that some of the things you’ve filled the blanks with are leading you into increasingly dangerous territory, and the further you go, the more difficult it is to find a way out.

As the originator of this blog I (John Andrew) need to tell you where I am coming from.  I believe in the essential foundational truths of the Christian faith.  I believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the one sent by God to redeem mankind.  I believe that He came to give those who believe in Him eternal life.  But while those things are way more important that many people give them credit for, my work is focused on the other end of the spiritual-naturalistic world.  I am not a naturalist, but I believe our life on this planet and in these bodies can be much better if we base it on Biblical principles than if we do not.

So this site is not devoted to preaching, or to evangalizing, or even to matters ordinarily thought of as matters of faith or religion.  It is devoted to discussion – civil, thoughtful, respectful, and never dismissive or condescending discussion – of the issues of the day.  We want to encourage people to disagree without being disagreeable.  We want to encourage people to look for and try to develop common ground.

Jesus said “Seek first the Kingdom”, and He said “Thy Kingdom come, on Earth as it is in Heaven.”  I believe that far to few of us really pay heed to those precepts, and that includes many who call themselves Christians.  So no yelling, no name calling, no arrogance or dismissiveness.  Every post has something of value.
